I hate saying no to work

I get myself in trouble by saying yes too often, but I still can’t shake the disappointment I feel when saying no to work. Especially good work, with people I like. I’ve had to do that twice already this morning. It sure beats the anxiety of having too little paying work (which I’ve gone through on occasion). No matter how you slice it these are the challenges of being a freelancer.

December Feast

The thing about contracting/freelancing is that it can be tough to keep a steady workflow. Right now I’m in one of those feast periods, where I find it difficult to do anything besides work and attend to the other basics of everyday life (bathing myself, my child, walking the dogs, eating, sleeping, etc.). Yes, the feast is much better than the famine, all things considered.

We moved into a new home a few weeks ago. While that is great, I seriously have not unpacked a single box yet. I’m still using my travel bag in the bathroom. I’m sitting here in my office, working, looking across the street at the neighbor who moved in yesterday. He’s clearing boxes from his garage. And I’m jealous.

Working on a Rails app

This should be my default post. I’ll automate this to update every hour. From a Rails app of course. Life is good.

Productive

Two milestone releases and a demo deployment for three separate projects. Not bad for a Friday when the weather is 80 degrees and clear.
